1. Other vs Another
Other – usage :

- when we use “other” to refer plural noun which has a quantifier (數詞), we put “other” after the quantifier.
Example : I am going camping with some other boys this week.

- when we use “other” with article “the”, we put other in front of the quantifier.
Example : I am going camping with the other boys this week.

Another – usage :

- when “another” is used to refer to “another one”, this “one” has to be a countable singular noun.
Example : I am talking with you on another phone.

- when “another” is used as the meaning of “others / extra / additional”, it can be put in front of the quantifier “few / several / five” of plural noun. Here we should treat the “quantifier + plural nouns” as a noun phrase.
Example : I am talking with another few parents on a conference call.

2. What's the meaning of "Gone are the day when........"
“Gone are the days when….” is a phrasing of inversion(倒裝法)
When you change it back to normal sentence pattern, you will understand the meaning easily :
The day when…..are gone.

3. What's the meaning of"........is put on hold."
“…..is put on hold” = “……is temporarily suspended”.
Note : When we say temporarily it does not always mean only temporary. Sometimes the “……” will be put on hold forever, that is, it will never happen.

Aloha, my dear friend
How are you today?
*I confess I borrowed similar form from "another" person. But I did not copy the context, I just only made adjustment.
Now back to the issue

Question(1) "Other" and "Another"
" Other" is mainly used to refer to different things or people,or beings and should be more than one, whereas " another" refers only to a single object or one. (another = an + other, 'an' implies single or one) Note this is the KEY point.
e.g.
The usage of " other":

1) I have lots of Playboy magazines, one of them is a limited edition and the other ones are not so interesting. ( ones - multiple of one )
2) I have many friends. Some of them are from Europe and the other ones are from the planet of Mars. ( ditto )

3) I have many beetles. One beetle is from Africa and the other beetles are from North Pole. ( beetles - more than one )

You see. "other" is used for multiple objects

The usage of " another":

1) I have many kinds of books. Since you do not like the comic book that I gave you, let me give you another one.( choice of one from different kinds )
2) My friend Dick the plummer was stuck in the snow this morning. I do not think he is able to help me fix the toilet. I am going to ask another friend of mine for help.
( How many friends don't matter here as long as you talk about a single friend. But if you are going to ask lots of friends for help, you have to say "other friends of mine")
3) refer to my confession above marked*

Question(2):
What's the meaning of "Gone are the days when........"
Meaning:
gone = disappeared, vanished, perished, withered, all past away and nothing left ( everything in the past )
days = periods, time, events
when..... = descripts the subject clause in front
If you use "Gone are the days when........", the "when....." event and time must be in the past meaning past tense, and the event will not happen again today.

1) I want to radically distinguish the difference between "Other" and "Another". How and when do I use them in a correct way?

OTHER - We can put articles: an, the or no article in front of it. The correct use in each case is related to the usual use of articles/no article.

Sample sentences:

a.I am giving you an other solution to your question.
This can also be written, without changing its meaning as:
I am giving you another solution to your question.--ANOTHER-any other one(singular only)

b. I don't know what the other person is talking about.--THE OTHER- the specific other

c. I always accept friendly suggestions by other people.-- OTHER- any other (singular or plural)

2)What's the meaning of "Gone are the days when........"
There is a song lyric like this: " Gone are the days when my heart was young and gay." It means: there were days when my heart was young and gay, and now those days are gone.過去了。In other words, it means the old times with what happened then are gone. They are in the past, they are history.

3)What's the meaning of"........is put on hold."
"Some thing is put on hold." means that thing is paused, stopped at present, waiting to resume later. eg My phone is ringing, so my answering your question is put on hold.
