An interesting animal- Pigs

An interesting animal i would say is pigs. People might often think they are stupid but they are actually pretty smart. Pigs are one of the few domestic animals that can give birth to up to 12 piglets each time. They are non sesasonal polyestrus which means they can breed anytime of the season they want just like humans. Sow (female pigs that are in puberty) are one of the few animal that can mate with different boar and produces fertile offsprings. Their gestation period is 114 days which is 3 months, 3 weeks and 3 days. Piglet will get their tails docked once they are born because scientist have found out that pig's tail have no nerves which means that they can feel their tail. When piglet plays with each other they tend to bite tails which lead to bleeding and the piglet being bitten wouldn't be able to feel it. Also, Ear notcher is also used. Farmers will cut out part of the pigs' ear as an identification of how many litter they produced( right ear) and their identification number(left ear) The right ear will be numbered 1, 3, 81, 9, and 27. So if the pig gave birth to 12 piglet, then farmers will cut part of the ear representing 9, and 3. The left side is represented by 1, 3, and 9. The number of piglet from the same mother wouldn't exceed 12 because that's the maximum number of piglet a sow can produce. Also something interesting about pigs are that when they are giving birth to a week after they give birth, they will be in a farrowing crate. It is used to prevent the sow from crushing her piglet during birth and when she is milking. Pigs sure are some interesting animal.
