Temperature proof

Assume that at any given instant, the temperature on the earth’s surface varies continuously with position. Prove that there is at least one pair of points diametrically opposite each other on the equator where the temperature is the same.
Hint: From a function that relates the temperature at diametrically opposite points of the equator.
