2. Fe3+ ions or Fe2+ ions are more stable? Why?

Two 4s electrons are lost by an Fe atom to form an Fe2+ ion.

Fe3+ : 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6 3d5

Fe3+ ion is more stable than Fe2+ ion.
