2x + 3y = 17......... eq1
3x - 5y = -3 .......... eq2

6x + 9y = 51 ........ eq3 = eq1 x 3
-6x + 10y = 6 ....... eq4 = eq2 x -2

19y = 57 .............. eq3 + eq4
y = 3

x = [ 17 - 3(3) ] / 2 . eq1
x = 4

Answer: x=4, y=3

2x + 3y = 17 Eq. (1)
3x - 5y = -3 Eq (2)

I'll solve by elimination (my favorite!)
10x + 15 y = 85 Eq (1) x 5
9x - 15y = -9 Eq (2) x 3
Adding
19x = 76
x = 4


6x + 9y = 51 Eq. (1) x 3
6x - 10y = -6 Eq. (2) x 2
Subtracting
19y = 57
y = 3

To get the x in both equations to cancel out:
[2x + 3y = 17] * 3
[3x - 5y = -3] * -2

x = (17 - 3y)/2

2[(51 - 9y)/2 - 5y] = 2[-3]
51 - 9y - 10y = -6
-19y = -6 - 51
-19y = -57
y = -57/-19
y = 3

3x - 5y = -3
3x - 5(3) = -3
3x - 15 = -3
3x = -3 + 15
x = 12/3
x = 4

∴ x = 4 , y = 3

multipli the 1st equation with 3 and 2nd with 2 sub both the equations
