Algabraic Equations!Please Help!!?

b + 8 = 12 1/4 - 1 1/2
b = 49/4 - 3/2 - 8
b = (49 - 6 - 32)/4
b = 11/4

Answer: b = 11/4 or 2 3/4

Checking:
11/4 + 8 = 12 1/4 - 1 1/2
11/4 + 32/4 = 49/4 - 3/2
43/4 = 49/4 - 6/4
43/4 = 43/4

4b + 32 = 49 - 6
4b = 43 - 32
4b = 11
b = 11/4
b = 2 ¾

b+8=[{(12*4)+1}/4] - [{(1*2)+1}/2]
{for a mixed fraction such as 3 1/2 =[ (3*2)+1 ]/2 }

b+8= 49/4 - 3/2
b+8 =[ 49 - 6 ] /4
b + 8 = 43/4
b= 43/4 - 8(or 8/1)
b = (43 - 32) / 4
b = 11 / 4

b=10 3/4 -8
b=2 3/4

b+8 = 12.25 - 1.5
b+8 = 10. 75
b= 10.75 - 8
b= 2.75

what ever you do to one side of the equation you have to do to the second one. eg. -8 from the left hand side to get b on its own thenyou also have to -8 from 10.75. hoped i helped. :D ask your teacher for help if you still dont get it.

You need to make b by itself.
So
b + 8 = 12.25 - 1.5
b = 12.25 - 1.5 - 8
b = 2.75 = 2 3/4

b + 8 = 12 1/4 - 1 1/2
b=49/4 - 3/2 - 8
b=49/4 - 6/4 - 32/4
b=11/4
b=2 3/4
