Solving an inequality is basically the same as solving an equation. There are some differences, but this one is straight forward.
6x + 7 > 3 + 8x

Subtract 6x from both sides
7 > 3 + 2x

Subtract 3 from both sides
4 > 2x

Divide both sides by 2
2 > x

I prefer to have the variable on the left, so switch it and reverse the arrow.
x < 2

6x+7>3+8x
-2x>-4
x>2

6x + 7 > 3 + 8x
6x - 8x > 3 - 7
-2x > -4
x < -4/-2
x < 2

Subtract 7 from each side
6x>-4+8x

Subtract 8x
-2x>-4

Divide by -2 ... remember if you divide by a negative, switch the signs
x<2

Hope this helps :)

The best thing to consider here is that the sign > makes no more difference in simplifying the equation than does an =. Simply move numbers around, changing their signs, and let "x > ___" be your answer, which is 2, according to the correct solutions already provided.

2x<4
x<2

6x+7>3+8x

3+8x<6x+7

8x-6x<7-3

2x<4

x<4/2

x<2(X is less than 2)
