Did you upgrade from IE6 to IE7 when the problem started? If so, "Add-on's" is the culprit.

Solution:
1. Roll back to IE 6 by deleting IE7. Here is the point: "Add-on's" are
embedded in Windows system. They can not be removed simply by deleting
IE7 itself.
2. Cold boot computer. Launch IE6 that is still residing in Windows.
3. Go to Tools, Click Add-on's to open all alien tools.
4. Select each tool and delete them one by one until all gone.
5. Cold boot again. All Add-On's are cleaned up now.
6. Now install IE7 and test run it. You should be flying on the net now. It's
actually is very good browser but Firefox always comes up with new ideas to
outsmart MicroSoft and kept an edge in front.

Remember to remove culprit Add-on's the same way in future if found.
Good luck
