Nothing beats seabathing at the beach for a pastime in the hot summer.
There are lifeguards at most beaches now. They watch so attentively over all the swimmers, almost like eagles preying over the sea. They are indeed our heroes who would be the first to come to resuce in case of accident.
Beaches are always bustling with life in summer. Children appear to be enjoying themselves the most. The beach is where they can run free, swim, play with sand and have an ice-cream, something they rarely enjoy at home. They remind me of my childhood years. For children who are learning to swim, swimming lessons are usually given by fathers, while mothers watch over them anxiously on dry land. What a sweet scene to watch.
Vendors of snacks like children, who always badger their parents to buy them ice-cream, popsicles and soft drinks, and with success.
The beach is the gathering place for foreign domestic helpers on Sunday. They usually come to enjoy barbecue instead of swimming at the beach. The food they bring along to cook on the bonfire is the no difference from those commonly brought by other people, like sausages and fishballs, but they do appear to enjoy themselves, probably beacause it is the only day of the week when they can have a day off.
Sharks like visiting the beach, too. After a few cases of human death by shark attacks were reported few years ago, shark nets, marked by a yellow line near the raft, have been installed. It is good news that sharks should find it harder to enjoy beach visits now.
The bustling beaches, and the changing human faces on them, mark the advent of summer every year.
