Should I take my parakeet to a vet?

I have had these two parakeets for about 6 or 7 years. I've never had any problems with them and I've never taken them to a vet.

Usually we leave our cage open every day so then can get out and fly around a little. They're smart, so they know how to get back into the cage and where it is.

But today one of them came out of the cage and tried to fly but fell on the floor. I'm sure she wasn't really injured since it was a really small drop, but she just had trouble flying and still does right now.

Yes. Even if the fall didn't hurt her, something had to cause her to fall instead of fly in the first place. But it should be an avian vet; regular vets don't always know how to treat birds. Go here if you need to find one. http://aav.org/vet-lookup/ And don't waste time because you haven't got much of it!

i think you should just in case. They might have some internal problems that you won't be able to see.

If you're asking the question should I take my pet to the vet there's clearly enough cause for serious concern, so get rid of any doubt and make sure the health of your pet is sorted out! :-)

She could have a broken bone. The biggest problem with bird bone breaks is that they heal so quickly, that they'll heal in a malformed and incorrect way if they're not set properly. By all means, take your bird to a vet immediately.

This can often mean that the bird is calcium deficient and egg bound. Is it a female? If so I would take to the vet. Offer extra calcium with cuttle bone and crushed oyster shell and boiled eggs with shell on crushed up. Also the bird may have hit head and be a little stunned or even hurt a wing. Is one wing hanging lower than the other? If it is chances is it is broken. Better safe than sorry take to vet to be checked.
