enjoy the cats you already have
Well, if you dad says no, surely it's not up to us to say yes or no?
Are they spayed? Then that is probably the reason why. He probably doesn't want more cats roaming the house.
your dad said no because i think he's afraid to have kittens. If you really want a male cat, maybe you should castrate it first.
I guess you have to ask yourself...Can you afford to add another cat? Can you spend more time playing with all three cats? When you're on vacation, can you trust someone to cat-sit all three? Is your space big enough for all three? Are your other two female cats accepting of other cats?
If you answer YES to all of these questions, I guess you might want to consider it. Remember, adopting a cat takes responsibility. Just make sure you are able to take care of all three.
As far as what your father said...there's a reason he said "no". Ask him what his reasons are? Usually a parent knows what is good/bad for their kids. Goodluck!
If you already have two females , might not be the wisest choice on getting a male , unless they are all spayed and neutered, because it might cause the female cats to become aggressive and fight .
Plus, if your dad said no, you probably shouldn't go behind his back and adopt. He is you parent, so what he says goes. Plus if you got one without telling him, he would probably send it right back to the shelter or where ever you got it from. Just enjoy the cats you have.
If you have 2 cats in an apartment that is enough. If you get too many you could start a territory war and the male may spray and then your Father would make you get rid of them all. Enjoy the ones you have and one day you may have a larger house and garden and you could have more. Wait until you have your own place. Believe me they can be a lot of work. I have my own house on two acres and a massive enclosure for the cats so they cannot roam wild. It is a full time job taking care of them all. (I am not telling you how many I have LOL)
Your dad has the final say so, but introducing a male to a female unit will cause a lot of fighting. Even if they are spayed and neutered.
I agree, if a parent says no, we have no right to advise differently.
Three cats would be alot in an apartment. Maybe if you move into a bigger accomodation try asking your dad again. That's probalby why your dad said no, or he thinks its too much responsibility. There can be a variety of reasons. Good luck!
I would adopt a cat. I work at a cat shelter and we have close to 300 hundred cats. I would recommend you getting a cat that is at least a year old that way you know what the cats temperment is going to be like. As you probably know kittens dont stay small for real long. Long term you will be better off adopting one that is at least 1 yrs. old because to me the temperment and personality is the best thing to look for.
Let me know if you end up getting one!
