Let x be the year required for GNP per capita reach $1,000.$12,000 million*(1+3%)^x / 15 million(1+1.5%)^x = 1,000,
(1.03/1.015)^x = 1.25, x>15. Therefore, it takes 16 years for GNP per capita to reach $1,000
