The department of Fashion and Textiles of poly U stages fashion design competitions for students to showcase their designs and artwork . Once , two students designed a collection of Qing dynasty clothing for the competition .
The clothes , made of satin , won acclaim from students and teachers . Several days before the competition , the two students arranged a rehearsal night at the competition venue and took to the catwalk wearing their own designs . Some of their friends had been invited to watch their rehearsal .
When the two students emerged from behin the stage and strutted their stuff on the catwalk , the audience laughed hysterically .
“Why are they dressed in burial clothes ?They’re even wearing makeup for the dead . They must be playing a trick on us !” the audience laughed .
The two design students stood bewildered on stage , without a clue as to what was so funny about their designs . A student from the audience dragged them off the stage and in front of the mirror . To their horror , they saw themselves wearing burial clothes . “What’s happening ? These are not our designs ! Our makeup is not like this either !’the young designers exclaimed .
The traumatized students tried to take off their clothes . But they wouldn’t come off .
After struggling fot a while , the students cut the clothes off with scissors and burned them outside the building .
