Today I have a presentation about “China”. I hope all of you can enjoy my presentation. The year of 2008 is an important year for Chinese people. The space mission of Shenzhou VII was extremely successful which included the China’s first spacewalk. In the whole world, only three countries have this ability. I feel so proud of my motherland. Some people said that China is becoming more and more powerful in the world. Do you think that it is right? If you ask me, my answer is ‘I’m not sure’.

Why China can send human beings to the space, but not ensuring the food safety? As you know, many milk powders contain a toxic chemical called “melamine”. The kidney stones in babies’ bodies are caused by melamine.

As the unfeeling companies put babies in risk, I feel very angry and shameful. Children are our future. How can they do such things to babies? They only concern about money. They use melamine to cheat the protein test. There is a huge loophole in the food safety-system. The protein test only calculates the percentage of nitrogen.

There is a large amount of N in melamine so they can cheat the test easily. They can mix the milk with a lot of water, but still pass the protein test. The final aim is to increase the profit.

I think this is only a drop of the ocean. The food safety is a deep-rooted problem in China. Personally, I think that the Chinese government underestimates the seriousness of the problem. Not only the milk products, but also other kinds of food. Most people think that “made in China” is unreliable. The Chinese government must value the health of people and restore public confidence. In the short-term, we can ask the companies to stop selling and recall the product which have the safety problems. In the long-term, building up a social responsibility of companies and make strict laws are very important. Finally I hope China can really become strong in all the aspects.
