At noon on 1st January, a certain biology experiment started with 300 bacteria. If the number of bacteria increased to three times that of the original in every 3 hours, and there were N bacteria at noon on 2nd January.
Find the value of N.

Number of bacteria forms a geometric sequence.

First term T(1) = a = 300

Common ratio = r = 3

n = (24 hours)/(3 hours) = 8

T(8) = arn-1

T(8) = 300 x (3)8-1

T(8) = 656100

Hence, N = 656100
