Hi,

For this question, let's simplify the right side of the equation first to get:

6y - 4 = 7 + 5y

Now, add 4 to both sides to get:

6y = 11 + 5y

Now, subtract 5y from both sides and get:

y = 11 <==== FINAL ANSWER

I hope that helps you out! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

6y - 4 = 3 + 4 + 5y
1) Add 4 to both sides of the equation
6y - 4 + 4 = 3 + 4 + 4+ 5y =
2) Simplify
6y = 11 + 5y
3) Subtract 5y from both sides of the equation
6y - 5y = 11 + 5y - 5y
y = 11

Check: Substitute 11 for y:
6(11) - 4 = 3 + 4 + 5(11) =
66 - 4 = 7 + 55
62 = 62
The answer y = 11 checks out, it's correct.
I hope that helps. Good luck.

P.S. Next time you get an answer, plug it back into the equation and do a "check". Your answer y = 7 wouldn't have checked out, and you would have known it was wrong.

Y=11 is the correct answer.

combine like terms. 6y-4=7+5y
add 4 to both sides. 6y-4+4=7+4+5y
6y=11+5y
subtract 5y to both sides 6y-5y=11+5y-5y
y=11

6y-4=3 + 4+ 5y
-5y -5y

y-4=3+4
+4 +4

y= 3+4+4=11

y=11
