✔ 最佳答案
3/4x - 4 = 16
3/4x = 16 + 4
3 = 4x(20)
80x = 3
x = 3/80

1st interpretation:
3/(4x - 4) = 16
64x - 64 = 3
64x = 67
x = 67/64 or 1 3/64

Proof:
3/(4[67/64] - 4) = 16
3/(67/16 - 64/16) = 16
3/(3/16) = 16
3(16/3) = 16
16 = 16

2nd interpretation:
3/4x - 4 = 16
3/4x = 20
x = 20(4/3)
x = 80/3 or 26 2/3

Answer: 80/3 or 26 2/3
3/4(80/3) - 4 = 16
20 - 4 = 16
16 = 16
2008-10-07 3:31 pm
3/4x = 16 + 4
3/4 x = 20
there fore 1/4x = 20/3
4x = 3/20
x= 3/80

A) 35 by way of fact a hundred% is all or an entire B)0.35 C)80x9=720 so like a million/9 of 720 is 80 D)70x8=560 so approximately 0.12 of 560 is 70 E)840 and the entire quantity of 8th graders is a million,050 F)50 s x 40 =2000 so 200cmx40= 8000 solid success!!!

Have to GUESS that you mean :-
(3/4) x - 4 = 16 and NOT as given.
(3/4) x = 20
3x = 80
x = 80/3

First things first: Isolate your variables on one side and your constants one the other.

Add four to both sides:

3/4x = 20

Now divide each side by 3/4 (or multiply by 4/3) to isolate the x.

x = 80/3

Instead of dividing by 3/4, you could multiply by 4, to get rid of the fraction, giving you

3x = 80

And then divide by 3:

x = 80/3

That's basically what you're doing anyway, just with an extra step.

Don't pay attention to the "3/80" answers. They made mistakes in their calculations, and will get you a bad mark.

Hope this helps.

clarification only, what is 3/4x? is it 3x/4 or 3/(4x)?

well, i'll gave you 2 answers...

first, the 3x/4 - 4 = 16

first find the LCM(least common multiple) of that,,, which is 4,

multiply the LCM in both sides,

so
3x - 16 = 64

then transposing,
3x = 80
x = 80/3
that is the answer

in 3/(4x) - 4 = 16

the same process,

find LCM,, which is 4x

multiply to both sides

3 - 16x = 64x

transposing

80x = 3
x = 3/80
that is the answer,,

check your given again!
good luck!

(3/4)x-4=16
Solving requires you to get the variable (in this case x) all by itself on one
side of the equal sign. And, it has to be +1x.
For your problem,
(3/4)x-4=16
Add 4 to both sides
(3/4)x-4+4=16+4
(3/4)x=20
Multiply both sides by 4
4(3/4)x=20 X 4
3x=80
Divide both sides by 3
3x/3=80/3
x=80/3, or 26 2/3
2008-10-07 3:32 pm
3/4x - 4 = 16

(plus 4 on both sides):
3/4x - 4 + 4 = 16 + 4
3/4x = 20

(multiply by 4 on both sides):
12/4x = 20*4
3x = 80

Therefore x = 80/3 = (26 + 2/3)

3/4x - 4 = 16
We wanna get the x alone, so first, move the 4 to the other side by adding 4 to each side.
3/4x = 20
now, to undo the 3/4, multiply both sides by 4/3
x = 80/3
x =26.67
