紐約 Streetwear 從 James Jebbia 開始
大家對 James Jebbia 的名字可能不是很熟識. 但只要說出與他有關的品牌, 一定耳熟能詳. 紐約的街頭, 滑板服 Union, Stussy 及 Supreme 都是由 James Jebbia 孕育出來的. James在 New York City (NYC) 的 underground style scene 有著很大的影響力. 其實20多歲才來到紐約的 James Jebbia 是出生於英國的倫敦. 小時候, James受盡了英國音樂, 時裝和文化的薰陶. 十分喜歡 David Bowie, Marc Bolan, 與後來的 Duran Duran 和 Spandau Ballet.



從英國漂洋過海, 初到貴境的 James 並沒有想到要做什麼, 只是偶然機會當上了時裝從業員. 在1990年, James 與 Maryane Fusco 在紐約的 SoHo 區開設了 Union . Union 以出售從英國及世界各地搜購回來的時裝物品為主, 例如 Duffer [of St. George] 和 Paul Smith. 當年, Streetwear 一詞還沒有出現, 但卻吸引了不少年青人來購物. Union 為 James 打下了基礎. 之後 James 遇上了 Sean Stussy, 兩人合作成立了Stussy, 在 SoHo 區開設了旗艦店, 售賣 Street fashion. Sean, 更在 Streetwear 上加入了沙灘和滑浪的元素, 成為了Stussy獨特的風格.



受到當時的 HipHop 與滑板文化的激發, James Jebbia 終於在1994年開設了首間以滑板為主的時裝店 Supreme. 雖然 James 對於滑板並非十分在行, 但卻十分熱衷和認同. Supreme 的服飾以功能和外觀討好為主再加入了運動服裝的元素, 其品牌極受青年人歡迎. 甚至吸引了不少 DJ, 設計師 和模特兒(如Naomi Campbell)來光顧. Supreme 在 1997 年登陸日本. 於東京的代官山, 和大阪都開設了分店. 日本裏原宿一向以紐約時裝為馬首是瞻
