Help please with 7-8(-2-5x)?

In Math you do not do equations from Right to Left (or from Left to Right for that matter). There is a predetermined order. In school we used the to say "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" which helps you remember:

Parenthesis: ( )

Exponential: Which includes X Squared or X^2, X^3, Square roots or X^.5 and so on.

Multiplication: Self Explanatory

Division: Self Explanatory

Addition: Self Explanatory

Subtraction: Self Explanatory

You always perform the operations in this order.

We do not know what X is, so cannot figure out the parenthesis but we can factor it out; which there is no exponential equation, so Multiplication is next.

So -8 * -2 = 16, and -8 * -5x = 40X; making the equation

7 + 16 + 40X = 23 + 40X

First distribut the -8

7+(16+40x)

Now add 7+16 and you're left with

23 + 40x

dont look it as 8 is first subtracted from 7 ok .. acyually it is multiplied with the content in that bracket .. so first multiply that it becomes
7-(-16-40x)=7+16+40x=23+40x

Do the parenthesis first. multiply 8 by negative 2 and 8 by 5x

so it'd be 7 minus negative 16 minus 40x

7 minus negative 16 equals 23. (Negatives cancel out to a positive so you add)

Well first off, you would have to simplify it by multiply the -8 by whats in the parentheses, so the problem would read:
7+16+40x
Then you would add the two numbers together getting the solution:
23+40x

First, multiply the leading factor of 8 to both of the terms inside the parenthesis:

7 + (16 + 40x)

you combine the terms without the x, and you are left with

23 + 40x
