Should I remove the floor?

I just bought a house and want to renovate it a lil bit. I want to have a new hardwood floor. But I don't want to remove the floor and I'm gonna put a new hardwood on top of the new one. Is it a good idea? Will it effect the old floor? Do ppl usually do that?
