The answer in the above post is not correct. Microwave is not the same as ultraviloet. Microwave used in domestic oven is of wavelength 12 cm, whereas ultrviolet is of wavelength 400 nm (or 0.00004 cm). Microwave oven canot emit ultrviolet radiation.
The disadvantages of microwave ovens could be as folows:
1. The rapid heating of foodstuff by microwave is in fact a disadvantage. Because although the surface of foodstuff is hot, the interior part of it might still be cold. Heat takes time to conduct from the surface to the inside of the foodstuff.
2. Foodstuff cooked by microwave is easily dehydarted and the foodstuff becomes dry after heating.
3. Metallic vessels especially those with sharp points cannot be used in microwave ovens.
