The inflation hits record high due to the global economy slowdown. People in Hong Kong are becoming worried about their money. Are they spending it wisely, saving it wisely? Well, if yes, I have some advice to help ease your mind. Personally I have at least 3 ways you can do to shop wisely and spend less.

First of all, we should look before you buy. Of course most people look at their potential purchase before they buy, but how hard are they looking? Take a look at at whatever it is you're thinking of buying. Is it a good quality product? Is it worth to buy? Make sure it is something that will stand up to your high standards. Clothing especially is an item we should be thinking about long-term. Buy clothing that will last for years and you'll find yourself spending far less money than you used to on your clothing budget, even if you have to spend a little more upfront.

In addition, we should compare stores. We all know this one, but just because all the stores are selling the product you want for the same price, doesn't mean you can't find a better buy. Some stores may be offering a bundle deal on the product you are interested in, or they may have other promotions such as a gift with purchase, buy one get one free which may make a purchase at their store a better bargain.

Furthermore, we should keep those receipts. How many times have you had a product break after only a few weeks? Keep your receipts! Most stores will take back defective merchandise within a month or two of the purchase date. I have even returned clothing after wearing it once or twice and the seams falling out. Look at the return policy on the receipt and keep it for as long as the store will allow a return. You can save yourself a lot of duplicate purchases this way.

To conclude, even in a booming market place, we should all be thinking about our money and how we spend it. The better choices we make when spending our money, the more money we have available to spend and save for a rainy day.
