"Receipt" and "Receive" are two different words with different meaning.
First, we look at "receipt",
1) When "receipt" is a NOUN, there are THREE meanings:
a) A written acknowledgment of having received a specified amount of money, goods, etc. [收據,收條].
e.g. I paid the bill but he neglected to give me a receipt.
我付了帳單,但他忘了給我收據。

b) The amount or quantity received. [收到的物(或款項);收入]
e.g. Box-office receipts amounted to over a million.

2) When "receipt" is a VERB, it means:
a) To acknowledge in writing the payment of (a bill). [ 在...上註明收訖字樣]
e.g. Pay the bill and ask the grocer to receipt it.

Receive is a VERB!
a) to take into one's possession (something offered or delivered) [收到,接到]
e.g. I've just received a telegram.

b) to have (something) bestowed, conferred, etc. [得到,受到,遭受]
e.g. They received the support of the workers.
他們得到工人們的支持。
c) to meet with; experience. [會客,接待]
e.g. Mr. Reed receives on Thursday afternoons.

d) [接待,歡迎;接受,接納;承認].
e.g. His speech was well received.
他的演講很受歡迎。
