100%<------>£12
10%<------->£1.20
20%<------->£2.40
Sale Price = £9.60
20% would mean that you start with 12, then subtract 20% of 12 from it. 20% of 12 is just 0.20*12, so the answer is
12 - (0.2 * 12) = 12 - 2.4 = 9.6. So the final price is £9.60
Another way to do this is to say that since 20% of the price was taken off, then that means the item is 80% of its original price. So 0.8 * 12 = 9.60
The guy who said he didn't know how much pounds were, obviously doesn't understand the problem. 20% of a number is 20% of a number, regardless of what units you use. Hell, I'm from the USA and I got it.
£12 x (1 - 20%) (1 = 100%)
= £12 x 80%
= £12 x 80/100
= £12 x 4/5
= £48/5
= £9.6
percentages are easy once u understand the quickest way... im only good at percentages of 10... like 10%,20%,30% etc coz they r the easiest to work out :)
if u hav $12.00 (sorry i dont do pounds) then to find 20% i think the easiest way is to find 10% of $12 then times the amoutn of 10% by two, which gives u 20%...if u wanted to find 30% u would times it by 3 etc.
so $12.00. to find ten percent move the decimal point " . " ONCE to the left. so then u get $1.200. double this so u get $2.400. this amount of $2.40 is 20% OF $12. So to get 20% OFF $12 you then need to TAKE AWAY $2.40 from $12.00
eg $12.00 - $2.40 (20% of %12.00) = $9.60
:D
hope this was helpful!!
also one other tip... if working out 5% of something, find the 10% first... then HALVE it to give u the 5% :D
參考: my own little tricks :)
To calculate 20% of £12, multiply 12 by 20 and divide by 100.
Then take that away from the £12 to figure out the answer.
