1. There is an old saying: "it is better to be stupid and happy, than smart and unhappy". Do you agree with it? Explain.


2. Are there things we are born "knowing"? Are there things our bodies "know" that our minds don't?

1. It depends on what you mean by "to be better." For those who agree to hedonistic thought, they might think that pleasure is the only thing good for them. They would probably don't care about the value of being smart. As long as they are able to have fun and to be happy, they would think it's fine. But I rather to be smart since it may help me to make better decisions in my life. To be smart provides a possibility to make a right decisions. Some would say even stupid can make a good decision if they are lucky enough. I don't agree with that since lucky stupid guys don't make any decision indeed. I would rather say it is their luck make the decision. So, if you want to be a better man, that is to say make more right decisions in your life, you have to be smart rather than to be happy.

2. For sure. We are born to know how to feel. New born babies know that they don't want to be hit again after they got hit by a nurse or a doctor or a midwife, and they cry. We can assume that they don't like the feeling. That mean they know how to feel already.

Bodies never know.
