demand 是一整個計畫，包括所有價格下的quantity demanded。它只會受價格以外的事物影響，例如喜好、天氣等。
如果喜好增加了，在每一價格下，需求量都增加，如以圖表顯示，則需求曲線向右移了。
但若是因為價格改變而想／不想買，則是需求量改變，只是由同一計畫中的一個價格的對策改到另一價格，計畫本身是沒有改變的，圖像上是在同一需求曲線上的一點移到另一點。

For example, the demand for LCD TV is increasing quite sharply in recent years. However, with the introduction of a new technology, the quality demand for HDTV is shooting up quite fast just in a year both in quality as well as in quantity. We then say, the quality demand for TV is high.
