fraction help? reduce to lowest term 34/68?

I trying to reduce a fraction 34/68
I divide them both by 2 . I get 17/34 but it wron I dont get it the answer is 1/2
Now how in the world could the answer be 1/2 if anyone know can u break it down to where i can get it! I dont even like Math! But i have to learn this so I can pass entrance exam. Please help. What other resources can help online. Please exaplain how did the answer get 1/2 work the problem adn show ur work so i can see step by step Thank you!
