Which do you prefer Melbourne, Sydney,Brisbane?

Definitely Melbourne, followed by Brisbane.
Love Melbourne for the upbeat sport- crazy people, restaurants, music scene, shopping. And the four seasons in one day, love that.

Brisbane for it's young, clean atmosphere. Doesn't have the seediness and cynicism of Sydney.
There's something very jaded and tired about Sydney.

I find it hard to choose between Brisbane and Melbourne. I live in Brisbane and love it here for the fantastic weather, its sub-tropical feel and its laid back and fun loving atmosphere. It has no beaches worth the name, but is only an hour away from some of the best in the world.

I was born and raised in Melbourne and still have family there and love its amazing CBD (definitely the best in Australia) with its laneways and arcades and great shopping, its great restaurants, Queen Victoria Markets, the Zoo, its incredible beautiful parks and gardens and its sophisticated (for Australia) European atmosphere.
If Melbourne was located where Brisbane is, it would be the best city in the world.

love melbourne myself and will be moving there in jan 2009. i like the CBD, countryside, the landscape.

i am a city girl but adoring countryside in my spare time. sydney is too busy and brisbane is too small and laid back.

melbourne is between sydney and brisbane in terms of most things to me. the best of all is its light touch of european weather - 4 seasons!

i think the best would be to go for an east coast holiday and stay a few days at each place and feel it for yourself, which i did!

it's important to not only see the place itself but to feel the people there as well.

Melbourne. its amazing. the CBD is so much fun. especially when your a kid from franga, the scrunge town of vic =p melbourne really is a nice city, and i noticed the other day when seeing macbeth... there is a lack of rubbish. except in the yarra... yucky river

Melbourne. It's great if you don't live in the CBD. Then you just get such a rush every time you go in to the city. It's a beautiful place.
