001----I didn't borrow the book from Edward because I read it before.--------WRONG
002----I didn't borrow the book from Edward because I have read it before.--------WRONG
我没有借Eward的書,因為這本書我之前已看過。
I 《didn't》 borrow the book from Edward because I 《had read》 it before.
1. I didnt know there was a fashion show at the mall. Nobody told (tell, past tense) me about it.
2. I didnt borrow the book from Edward because I have read (read, past perfect tense) it before.
3. Kate was angry with me because I failed (fail, past tense) to come to her party.
4. We went out for a walk after the rain stopped (stop, past tense).
5. We have started (start, past perfect) our dinner when he dropped in.
Past perfect tense is used to express actions completed by a particular point in the past. When you want to emphasis an action has been done, like examples 2 and 5 above, then you should use past perfect tense. Usually there are some "hints" word in the sentence like "before" and "when". For examples 1 and 3, no actions have been taken and so it must be past tense. The "hints" words are "nobody" and "fail".
1)I didn't know there was a fashion show at the mall. Nobody told me about it.
2)I didn't borrow the book from Edward because I read it before.
3)Kate was angry with me because I failed to come to her party.
4)We went out for a walk after the rain stopped.
5)We started our dinner when he dropped in.
All is past tennse because 1,2)use didn't --past tense 2)use read(present tense) and read(past tense) is the same sound 3)was--past tense 4)went--past tense 5)started--past tense
