i had this same exact problem and i tried so many different things before i found something that worked when i wasnt tired at all.
try picturing something really random like a roller coaster and then at the end of the roller coaster it turns into a pool but then the pool is made of jello and you're bouncing on it like a trampoline. then you bounce into space and catch a star, etc, etc, etc. keep going on thinking of the most random thing possible (but make it whatever first pops into your mind, don't think about it much) and keep going on and on. the more unrealistic and random it is, the easier it is to fall asleep. i don't even feel myself getting tired i just fall asleep and wake up in the morning.
