What is the First Amendment?

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

1.) Freedom to exercise Religion
2.) Freedom to establish a Religion (example- Joseph Smith/ Mormonism
3.) Freedom of Speech
4.) Fredom of people to assemble
5.) Right to petition the Government- (example are the added amendments)

It is the first- b/c it is the most important. It is why we can get on here and debate and discuss with each other our differences.
