Any form such as x^2 - y is easy. Simply solve when equal to zero.
x^2 - 16 = 0
x^2 = 16
x = sqrt(16) = +/- 4
so the factored version would look like:
(x+4)(x-4)

a^2 - b^2
= (a + b)(a - b)

x^2 - 16
= x^2 - 4^2
= (x + 4)(x - 4)

(x - 4) (x + 4)

Recall the 'difference of two squares' identity.

a^2 - b^2 = (a + b) (a - b)

x^2 - 16 = x^2 - 4^2
= (x + 4) (x - 4).

I hope that helps. :)

(x - 4) * (x + 4) = x^2 -16

if you mean x^2
its (x-4)(x+4)

(x+4)(x-4)
