A student uses an electric kettle to heat 0.5 kg of water at 20 degrees.
The water boils in 4 mins.
Estimate the output power of the kettle.
Given that the specific heat capacity of water is 4200 Jkg^ -1 K ^-1

ANS =706W

Assume no heat loss to the surroundings:
By using E = mcΔT and E = Pt,
Energy gained by the water = energy given out by the heater
( 0.5 )( 4200 )( 100 - 20 ) = P ( 4 )( 60 )
P = 700W
P.S. I have checked the answer of that year and it should be 700W but not 706W.
