Chlorine bleach contains hypochlorite (OCl‑) and chloride (Cl-) ions. When an acid solution is added, the hydrogen ions (H+) in the acid solution would react with these ions to give chlorine gas (Cl2).
2H+(aq) + OCl-(aq) + Cl-(aq) → H2O(l) + Cl2(g)
It is very dangerous because chlorine gas is poisonous.
