4y+5x=12
Since u are solving for y, isolate the variable y on 1 side and bring the extra variable to the other side.Which in these case is 5x.

When you bring a variable from 1 side to the other,the + and - signs have to swop positions.E.g 4y+5x=12 => 4y=12-5x
Notice that the 5x changes from positive to negative from the left to the right.

So you are left with 4y=12-5x.You then divide both sides by 4 as there is 4 times of y whereas you are only solving for y.
Thus getting: y=(12-5x)/4 or y=(-5x+12)/4

Answer: y=(12-5x)/4 or y=(-5x+12)/4

5x+4y=12
4y=-5x+12
divide both sides by 4 so that only y will remain
y=(-5x+12)/4

5x + 4y = 12
4y = 12 - 5x
y = (12- 5x)/4
2008-09-03 3:35 pm
5x + 4y = 12
4y = 12 - 5x
y = (12 - 5x) / 4
2008-09-03 3:35 pm
5x +4y=12 => 4y = 12 - 5x => y = (12 - 5x)/4

4 y = - 5 x + 12
y = (- 5 / 4) x + 3
2008-09-03 3:44 pm
5x + 4y = 12
4y = 12 - 5x
y = (12 - 5x)/4
y = 12/4 - 5x/4
y = 3 - 5x/4
2008-09-03 3:43 pm
5x + 4y = 12
or, 4y = 12 - 5x (Changing side and hence, sign)
or, y =(12 - 5x) / 4 (Again, changing side, and changing
"*4" into "/4")
Hope this meets your needs.
