Yes, shit is definitely a curse in any English speaking country.
It is not just 粗魯小小 !
However people will not really care that you say this word because it is a very minor curse.
I would suggest you not even try to learn this word because you will easily get addicted to it. I am a good example. I always said this word in front of my US colleages and my family in Canada, until one day my boss asked me not to curse. Then my family in Canada also told me that I used this word too often, which will affect the kids. Then it realized that this word is not actually acceptable in the English speaking world !
