香港中學會考英國語文科達第3等級或以上，並另有四科成績達E級或以上，或同等學歷。
如香港中學會考中國語文科並不包括在上述四科之內，則該科的成績須達第2等級或以上，或同等學歷。
能流暢用英語溝通及書寫。

見習航空交通管制主任入職條件

香港高級程度會考兩科及格和香港中學會考 ( 中學會考 ) 另外三科 ( 包括英國語文；另外兩科至少一科為數學、地理、物理或電腦科 )C 級 ╱ 第三級或以上；以及中學會考中國語文第二級或以上；或同等資格 。
英語流利並能書寫暢順英文。
體格符合國際民航組織所訂定有關航空交通管制主任體格標準。以下是一些對視力方面要求的事例：

單目的視力，不論有否經過矯正，均需要達至6/9或更佳。雙目的視力在同等情況下，需要達至6/6 或更佳。

沒有色弱。

檢驗視力前六個月沒有接受任何矯視手術。
持有本港以外學府及非香港考試及評核局頒授的學歷人士亦可申請，惟其學歷必須經過評審以確定是否與職位所要求的本地學歷水平相若。
合資格的申請人需接受以下一系列的測試：



能向測驗 (半天)
面試 (20-30分鐘)
評估測試，包括個別/團體運動、認知能力和性格評估 (一天)

投考三級航空交通事務員者毋須參加任何筆試。
空交通事務員
航空交通事務員的工作是為航空交通管制主任提供支援，主要職責包括使用先進電腦系統處理飛行數據和飛航資料。航空交通事務員是本地招聘，一般入職級別為三級航空交通事務員，薪級屬見習職級薪級表第5至6點。航空交通事務員會接受由民航處安排的內部培訓，在完成每個單元課程後，都會被派到航空交通管制中心、指揮塔台和飛航資料中心接受在職訓練。他們在順利完成這些基本訓練後，便具備晉升為二級航空交通事務員的資格。
在發展職業前途的過程中，二級航空交通事務員會繼續接受培訓，以便承擔更重要的職責，例如使用熱線和數據鏈路與鄰近國家的航空交通管制單位進行溝通和互相協調。在取得有關資格後，他們即具備逐步晉升為一級航空交通事務員和高級航空交通事務員的資格。

學習航空交通管制程序
在職期間，二級航空交通事務員須接受高級航空交通事務的訓練。當他們取得有關的專業資格後，便有機會晉升至一級航空交通事務員和高級航空交通事務員的職級。

航空通訊員

航空通訊員的主要工作是利用各種精密儀器，如電腦、發射機和接收機等，與鄰近地區的機場進行點對點通訊，以及提供固定航空通訊、流動航空通訊、航空氣象廣播和搜索及拯救行動通訊等服務。

航空通訊員從本地招聘，入職級別通常為見習航空通訊員，薪級屬見習職級表第四至六點。見習航空通訊員須接受平均約一年半的訓練。學員須先在課堂訓練的考試取得合格，然後才可在通訊中心的各種操作職位接受在職訓練。完成訓練而成績良好的學員會獲晉升為二級航空通訊員。

在職期間，二級航空通訊員經過訓練且表現卓越者，有機會逐步晉升至一級航空通訊員、航空通訊主任和高級航空通訊主任的職級。

航空交通管制主任一般從本地招聘，入職級別為見習航空交通管制主任，薪級屬見習職級薪級表第11至14點。見習航空交通管制主任將會接受於本地舉辦的一連串基本培訓。在實際工作方面，他們首先會被派到航空交通管制中心和指揮塔台擔任支援人員，協助具備認可資格的航空交通管制主任工作。在培訓過程中，見習航空交通管制主任有機會接受駕駛單引擎飛機的飛行訓練。目前，見習航空交通管制主任是在澳洲接受這項飛行訓練的。此外表現良好者更會獲挑選參加一項海外航空交通管制課程，以增加航空知識和擴闊他們所接觸的航空交通管制運作層面。

現時，這項海外課程由英國一個國際機構舉辦，課程內容涵蓋導航、氣象、電訊、航空法例和航空交通管制程序等基本航空課題。
見習航空交通管制主任完成海外訓練返港後，將會接受專業航空交通管制訓練。 訓練 課程包括理論、模擬機實習訓練，以及在符合資格的管制人員監督下，於實際運作環境中接受在職訓練。當他們通過第一個部門專科等級訓練課程並取得相關航空交通管制等級後，便有資格獲考慮晉升三級航空交通管制主任 。

一般來說，在鞏固工作經驗後， 三級航空交通管制主任會獲選進一步接受其他航空交通管制職位的訓練。在取得相關航空交通管制資格後，三級航空交通管制主任便有資格獲考慮晉升為二級航空交通管制主任。至於資深的二級航空交通管制主任，則會獲安排接受專業深造訓練，例如搜索和拯救訓練以及在職培訓導師訓練，以栽培他們承擔更重要的職責。一名見習航空交通管制主任從接受訓練至成為具備各項認可資 格的二級航空交通管制主任，需時約五年。

Entry Requirements: Candidates should (a) have a pass in two subjects at Advanced Level in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and Grade C/Level 3 [Note] or above in three other subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) including English Language and the other two subjects with at least one of them being Mathematics, Geography, Physics or Computer Studies, and Level 2 [Note] or above in Chinese Language in the HKCEE, or equivalent; (b) be able to communicate effectively in English; and (c) be medically fit to International Civil Aviation Organization standards for Air Traffic Control Officers (Visual requirements can be found on Civil Aviation Department website at http://www.cad.gov.hk).

Notes:For civil service appointment purpose, 'Grade C' and 'Grade E' in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in previous HKCEE are accepted administratively as comparable to 'Level 3' and 'Level 2' respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE.

Duties: A Student Air Traffic Control Officer is mainly deployed on receiving training leading to the award of Air Traffic Control ratings; undertaking single engine light aircraft flying training; and performing duties connected with air traffic control. He/she is required to work shifts on a 24-hour basis.
