ok first ul have to distribute the - to eliminate the ( )
6x - 5x + 1 = 2 --> to make it simple its like multiplying -1 to (5x-1)

then transfer your +1 to the other side of the equal sign
6x - 5x = 2 - 1 --> since you moved the 1 it gets a - and vice versa

do the subtraction
6x - 5x = 2 - 1 ---> x = 1 and thats your answer ^__^

since 6x and 5x are both the same (they both have 1 x) you can subtract it directly. so 6-5 = 1 because of the x you jsut add the x to the 1 which is x. its redundant to go 1x. simple subtraction for the other side 2-1 = 1.

now to further explain why the +1 becomes a -1 when you move it to the other side of the =, just think of it as a mirror, if you move anything across the = it gets its mirror image. so a +1 moved to the left becomes and -1 and a -1 move to the right of the = sign is a +1. hope this helps ^_^
