Might help to multiply the top and bottom of the fraction through with two to get:
26/3

Now notice that we know that 24/3 is a whole number 24/3=8, so break up the fraction into:
24/3 + 2/3 = 8 + 2/3 = 8.666

This is a good method for doing fractions in your head, without having to resort to long division with pen and paper.

= 13/1.5
= 13/(1 1/2)
= 13/(3/2)
= 13(2/3)
= 26/3 or 8 2/3

Answer: 8 2/3 or 8.66 2/3

Proof (going back to 13):
= 8 2/3 * 1.5
= 26/3 * 1 1/2
= 26/3 * 3/2
= 78/6 or 13

Dividing with the help of 0 isn't irrational. that's infinite. Dividing 2 with the help of four aspects one a million/2. there is not something irrational a pair of million/2 an orange, a million/2 a bag of potato chips or a million/2 a pie of pizza. it would be irrational to have faith that when you divide a extra robust variety right into a smaller variety which you will possibly get an entire variety as antagonistic to a fragment. The sq. root of two is an irrational variety because of fact it yields a team of numbers after the decimal element that don't end. desire this enables.

if you're dividing big into small, then you would express it 1.5/13

as far as method, just do long division, and keep track of your places.

if it makes it easier for you, divide 15/13, then push your answer over one decimal place to the right: so 1.153846 becomes 0.1153846

if you're trying to understand the MEANING of big number into small, you are still coming up with the number of times something is piece of something else, but now the number of times is less than 1.

If you're trying to understand why this is useful: you need division to get percentages, and most percentages you calculate will be less than 1. Example: if you were 5 feet tall when you're 12, and 5 feet 6 inches tall when you're 14, your height increased 10 percent. You increased 1/10th in height, which was calculated by dividing the 6 inch growth (a smaller number) by the original height of 60 inches (a larger number).

This can be solved using fractions. Since 1.5 is 3/2, the problem becomes 13x2/3 (or two thirds of 13) which equals 8.666.
It can also be solved using decimals since dividing by 1.5 is the same as multiplying by 0.667 and 13x0.667 is 8.666 (for calculator users).

13/1.5
= (13 x 10)/(1.5 x 10)
= 130/15

= 8 2/3

to divide 13/1.5, it is easier if you multiply the equation by 2/2. muliplying by 2/2 is the same as multiplying by 1, so it doesn't change the equation.

now we have 26/3. then you can use normal division procedures to get 8 2/3

First times the top and bottom by 2 (i.e. 2/2 = 1 so won't change the value) to get 26/3 and then simplify to get 8*3 = 24 + 2/3

And that's the answer.

Hope that helps!
