Imperative form is a sentence pattern to say your sentence in the following different tone :
- requesting someone to do something - politely - examples :
Please do this for me
Would you mind passing the book to me

- ordering someone to do something. This usually happens in an emergency situation, such as during a fire - examples :
- If there is a fire, you should not use the elevator.
- When you cross the road, you should follow the traffic light.
