1)If the product of two numbers is 192 and their difference is 26.
Find the numbers.

2)The time difference for a train to travel from station A to station B at
40km/h and at 45km/h in two minutes. How far is two stations?

3)The salary of A is $Y and that of B is $X. If C has a salary of one-sixth of B's ,but only thousandth of what A gets. Express x in terms of Y.

1)Let the smaller number be x , then the larger number=x+26

x(x+26)=192
x^2 +26x-192=0
(x+32)(x-6) =0
x=-32 or6
Therefore, the numbers can be -32,4 or 6,32.

2)Let the distance between the two stations be d.
d/40 - d/45 =2
(45d-40d)/40*45 = 2
5d = 3600
d = 720
Therefore, the distance between the two stations is 720km.

3) C=X/6 ,C=Y/1000

X/6=Y/1000
X= 6Y/1000=3Y/500
