what does ”so” mean?

i've heard of one conversation says " not to do it unless he or she asks you to do so" in this situation, what does "so" mean? and could you explain in chinese? thx

So is referring to the action that he/she asked you to do, but you did not post them out,so I do not know what it is.

eg. Do not do the homework for him unless he begged you to do (it for him), so 'it for him' can be replaced by the word 'so' in order to simplify the sentence.
