I'm only 13 so i don't want anything hard... a square has a perimeter of 24 cm how to i find out the area. Please help I've been stuck for 2hours on this :(
square has 4 equal length...
let the length of the square be a...
a + a + a + a = 24
4a = 24
a = 6cm
therefore... the length of the square is 6cm...
therefore...
the area of the square:-
= 6 x 6
= 36cm^2
How to find it:
Well, the area of rectangle, which includes a square, is length multiplied by width. We can write that like this:
A = L*W (Where I've used * to indicate multiplication.)
So, we need to find out the length of the sides. The key to this is the word "square." That means all sides are equal. Since there are four sides that add up to 24 cm (the perimeter is the sum of the lengths of all the sides.), we just divide 24 by 4.
S=24/6
S=6
Now, we just say
A= S*S
=6*6
=36
You can also express that as follows:
A=S² (where the little 2 means that the length of the side is multiplied by itself.)
Hope this helps.
