it should be "lovers"

This sentence was originated from Sung dynasty, after 蘇丕 failed his state exam; Out of frustration, he said : 「此中最易短英雄之氣。」. Later 「兒女情長」 was added to the sentence to mock people whom gets discouraged easily from failures, but lingers relentlessly when pursuing love :)
