solve for x? plz? help?

1) Solve for “x”: 32 = 8 – 4x

and then state the solution
27) Solve the system of equations and state the answer as an ordered pair.

y= 1/2x + 1
y= -2x+6

[[ ok for my answer i got that x = 2 ]]
but my teacher is asking me for y? and i dunno how 2 do that?

32 = 8 - 4x
24 = -4x
x = -6

If you have your x, just substitute it into either of the two equations and solve for y:

y = (1/2)x + 1
y = (1/2)(2) + 1
y = 1 + 1
y = 2

or:

y = -2(2) + 6
y = -4 + 6
y = 2

Both gives the same answer.

1). 32 = 8 - 4x
4x = 8 - 32
x = -24/4
x = -6

2). use elimination
y=1/2x + 1
y= -2x + 6
------------------- (-)
0 = 1/2x+2x - 5
0 = 5/2x - 5
x = 5 times 2/5
x = 2

Ok...

1) 32 = 8 - 4x

Add 4x to both sides:

32 + 4x = 8

Subtract 32 from both sides:

4x = 8 - 32 = -24
4x = -24

Divide both sides by 4 to isolate the x
x = -6 <<<<<

2) I am going to do the entire problem from scratch.

(1) y = (1/2)x + 1
(2) y = -2x + 6

Multiply both sides of (1) by 4, so as to get the x term to be 2x.
(1a) 4y = 2x + 4

Add (1a) to (2) Repeating the equations

(1a) 4y = 2x + 4
(2) y = -2x + 6
---------------------
5y = 10

y = 2 <<<<<

Substitute 2 for y in equation (2)

2 = -2x + 6 Subtract 2 from both sides of the equation:

0 = -2x - 4

2x = 4

x = 2

(2,2) <<<<< Final Answer (This does check.)

1)
32 = 8 - 4x
32 - 8 = -4x
-4x = 24
x = 24/-4
x = -6

2)
y = 1/2x + 1 (solve by using substitution)
y = -2x + 6

y = 1/2x + 1
(-2x + 6) = 1/2x + 1
-2x - x/2 = -6 + 1
2(-2x - x/2) = 2(-5)
-4x - x = -10
-5x = -10
x = -10/-5
x = 2

y = -2x + 6
y = -2(2) + 6
y = -4 + 6
y = 2

∴ x = 2 , y = 2

1 is -6. 4* -6= neg. 24. since the 8 is smaller than 32, the 4 has to become a negative #,and a negative being subtracted turns positive. so its really like saying 32=8+24. just put -6.

idk how u do 27.

4y=2x+4
y=-2x+6

5y=10
y=2
2=x

1) Get like terms on one side
32 -8 = 8 - 4x -8
24 = -4x
Divide both sides by -4 to get x by itself
-6 = x
27) You did the hard part by finding x=2. All you have to do now is plug in the x into one of equations to find the y since the coordinate for y is the same for both lines because we're trying to find the point that's the same.
So:
y = 1/2(2) + 1
y = 2

1)

32 = 8 - 4x

24 = -4x

-6 = x

27)

If you believe x = 2 then all you have to do is plug 2 in for x in either equation and solve for y

I would recommend plugging x = 2 into both equations to ensure you get the same answer for both

y=2 because when 1/2x =1 and x=2 then u plug it in then 1/2 times 2 equals 1 then 1+1 equals 2 then y=2. the same thing goes for the second problem -2 times 2 = -4... -4 + 6 = 2 then y=2...there is ur answer.... x=2 and y=2...

32 = 8 – 4x

Subtract 8 on both sides

24 = -4x

Divide by -4 on both sides

-6 = x

-----

y= 1/2x + 1
y= -2x+6

Both equations = y so you can set the equations to equal one another

1/2x + 1 = -2x + 6

1/2x + 2x = 6 - 1

5/2 x = 5

x = 5 * 2/5

x = 2

Then sub in 2 for x

y = 1/2 (2) + 1
y = 2
