For a taial with n possible outcomes, if the probabilities of the occurences of these outcomes are P1,P2,....,Pn,respectively,and the corresponding values obtained for the outcomes are respectively A1,A2,...,An,then the expected value of the trial is P1A1+P2A2+...+PnAn

對於n個測試的可能結果,如果那些結果的發生的概率分別為P1,P2,...Pn,而那些結果對應的值為A1,A2,....An,那麼,該實驗的期望值為 P1A1+P2A2+...+PnAn。

例如:

在擲一骰子,擲中一的概率為0.1,擲中二的概率為0.2,擲中三的概率為0.3,擲中四的概率為0.2,擲中五的概率為0.1,擲中六的概率為0.1

期望值
=(1)(0.1)+2*0.2+3*0.3+4*0.2+5*0.1+6*0.1
=3.3
