Which credit card is better?

It seems that Discover offers the best deal with all those cash back bonus. Then upon browsing I found American Express Blue from American Express® the best overall on the websites. However, it seems MasterCard and Visas are the most widely accepted card.

I am a college student and want to get a credit card to start building up credit. Discover and American Express are my preferences but the only thing I felt hesitant about it is not every place accept Discover and American Express.

Or should I get one from Citi or Orchard??

Avoid Orchard at all costs..... do a little research and you'll see why. rewards are all great, but avoid rewards other than cash for now. Now, keep in mind that in order to build credit, you have to carry a balance on your card. Look for 0% intro rate, keep a $100 balance, and pay it off as soon as the 0% promo ends. You have an opportunity to learn to manage your money here..... be responsible.

If any business says they don't accept Discover or AMEX, avoid them. They can accept the card, every CC processing co. in existence process the major 5, Visa, MC, AMEX, Discover, and Diners Club. The rates for the last 3 are higher to the merchant. Also, never ever ever ever ever pay more to use a card than you would if you paid cash.

Unless you plan on paying off the balance every month, you need to look further than the cash back or rewards options. Check the interest rates that come along with the cards. Usually rewards cards have higher interest rates and are really only good if you pay them off. If you are going to carry a balance, opt for a card with a lower rate, you will probably save money in the long run.

Since you are trying to build credit, I also suggest that you watch your credit card spending very closely. Do not use the card for anything you wouldn't have normally bought. Do not suddenly splurge on things you wish you had. The fastest way of ruining any good credit you build up is to go past due on a card - not to mention all the fees they will tack on for missing or late payments, etc.
