Good question Ray. You seem to be a little bit confused in areas and perimeters. Its a good ques. anyway.

The formula for area of square is = legnth^2
Area=L^2
49=x^2
x=square root of 49
x=7

legnth = 7

now you can easily find the perimeter
(sum of all sides)
7+7+7+7
=28

The perimeter is 28

If s is the length of a side of the square then

s*s = 49

or s = 7

Since all sides of a square have the same length the perimeter is

4*s = 4*7 = 28

You need to calculate the length of each side. Since we know the area is a square, then take the square root of 49, to give 7 for each side.

It should now be obvious that the perimeter is 4 * 7 = 28.

take the square root of the area, then multiply by 4

28.

The area of a square is equal to its side squared. So if the side is a, then the area is a^2=49. Take the square root of both sides and you get a=7. A square has 4 sides, so multiply a by 4 and you get 4a=4(7)=28.

√49
= √(7 x 7)
= 7 units

7 x 4 sides
= 28 units
