Carrier Sense and Collision?

In a network of a number of stations that can hear each other perfectly, one station wants to transmit and senses the carrier is clear. But how can a collision still occur after this station started the transmission?

From what I remember, the receiver sending something or the sender receiving something at the same time the sender is sending the packets to the receiver can cause a collision.
