I like the ending on the Merchant of Venice, but it is quite odd, that this play should have ended on a happier note because no one died, and the bad guy was punished and everyone has a happy ending, but this play ended kind of sadly, as if it was foretelling the soon to be great tragedy in Germany where many Jews were soon massacred.

I like the ending of this play because it reflects human wisdom. Portia disguised herself as a lawyer and defended Antonio in the court. Her wisdom was revealed when she announced Shylock might take the pound of flesh but not a drop of blood and finally saved Antonio.
